Installation on Linux

Post by CC_Support Verified »

Installation of the software is really easy on all platforms.

On Linux

Download the software from the downloads site https://quickcalc.cc-computers.com

Once downloaded make sure you Right Click on the app and select "Properties" (or press ALT + Return). From there you will see a box to tick or more commonly slide the switch, labelled "Execute as Program", near the bottom of the box.

Why does this happen?

Because this software is downloaded from the internet and to protect your computer it must be allowed to run as a program, otherwise it is just seen as a data file. This is normal behaviour on Linux and protects you from accidentally downloading and installing viruses.

Why install it?

We recommend installing it as the downloads folder is considered ephemeral, that is temporary, any cleanup tool, including the built-in cleanup tools will recommend emptying the downloads folder. It is where we download the installation package for many software packages and should be emptied periodically to save space and remove outdated install software.
